Gary Saunders |

Gary Saunders is a painter, illustrator and writer. He works in a variety of media, and his work is charaterized by a sense of playfulness, strong lines, a love for nature, and story-telling elements. In 1953, Saunders attended the Newfoundland Academy of Art, and since then straddled both art and science. First studying forestry at the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science. Then finally obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1965 from Mount Allison University. Saunders's work can be found in private and public collections, including the Hudson's Bay Company (Toronto, Ontario), Mount Allison University (Sackville, New Brunswick), The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery's Permanent Collection (St. John's, Newfoundland), and The Canada Council Art Bank (Ottawa, Ontario).
