David Macfadden is an emerging sculptor exploring a wide variety of materials. David’s works are often experimental and short lived, characterized by keen attention to detail and finish, repetitive, and exploiting all three dimensions. Recently his art has been centered on his fascination for gears, mechanical movements, fittings and their parallels with human interaction. His piece One is two identical gears carved out of a single block of Indiana limestone, representing male and female counterparts working as a whole; inspired by Brancusi’s The Kiss. David graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a BFA in sculpture and a minor in Art History in 2009. He has started to exhibit in Nova Scotia.
