Carol Morrison is a painter working primarily in oils with landscapes being her favorite subject, often creating them plein air. Her impressionistic style is reminiscent of the Group of Seven; capturing the natural beauty of the Maritimes, the rugged coastline, dramatic trees and changing skies, in bold a la prima brushstrokes that blend into a detailed image as you step farther away and dissolve at close inspection. Carol's interest in investigating the natural world around her led to a PhD in Zoology. After a fullfilling career as a research scientist, Carol went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from NSCAD University in 2005 and to devote her life to art professionally. Carol received the Elizabeth Greenshields Award in 2005 and a Nova Scotia Creation Grant in 2008 for a project painting victims of injustice using information provided by Amnesty International. Her paintings are in private collections in Canada and abroad, and several of her paintings were acquired by the Nova Scotia Art Bank.
