Bob Hainstock is a printmaker and painter working in experimental mixed media. His subject matter is mostly devoted to the Nova Scotian rural landscape and its seasons. His work is highly abstracted and simplified, emphasizing line, texture, and an earthy palette. Combining rust, woodcut, papermaking, printmaking techniques, and paint onto paper and then put through a press is Bob's signature. Bob is an award-winning author and illustrator of a best-selling book on rural architectural heritage, and an award-winning journalist for news, feature articles, and illustration of rural life. After decades as a non-fiction journalist, Bob decided to pursue a second degree in Fine Art which he obtained from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1996, specializing in printmaking. Bob gives private workshops throughout the Atlantic region. Bob's work is in private collections throughout North America.
