Anna Syperek is a visual artist working in watercolours, oils, and intaglio printmaking, of which etching and aquatint are her favorites. She masterfully combines techniques to great effect and achieves serenity despite the exquisite detail with which she portrays landscapes and people. This soothing quality fills the viewer with awe and admiration for the work and the subject alike, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. In 1969, Anna began her art education at York University in Toronto, Ontario, which culminated in her graduation in 1980 from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a BFA in painting & printmaking. As well as being a full time artist, Anna has taught art at St. Francis Xavier University, where she also set up a community printmaking workshop; at NSCAD University; and various other venues throughout the Maritimes. Anna Syperek is a well recognized artist. She has been featured in numerous publications, has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants, and her work is featured in prominent collections like: The Canada Council Art Bank, IBM, the Nova Scotia Art Bank, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, to name a few.
