Tae Hee Kim is a painter working primarily in oils. Her favorite subjects are landscapes and flowers, although she is equally talented painting still life and figures. Her signature use of a palette knife and dry brush technique, as well as her application of colour, embue her work with an expressive softness and a sense of contentment. In 1984 she earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Dong-Guk University and in 1987 obtained a Master in Art Education at Sook-Myung Women’s University, both in Seoul, Korea. Tae Hee taught art for several years and assisted art therapy. She took a long hiatus from art and teaching to raise her four daughters, and has now come back to painting, “one of the most pleasant things in my life.” Tae Hee won an award at Gyeong-Sang Northern State Art Competition in 1982, and her paintings are held in private collections in Canada and abroad.
