Maria Doering

Maria Doering is a visual artist working in various media, often combining printmaking, paint and drawing. Her work explores the body and its many layers, physically and philosophically, which she expresses realistically as portraiture or abstractly as complex patterns, sometimes boldly combining them into one panel. Maria's art is just as the body and mind that inspire her: mysterious, intricate, dense layered, and beautiful.

Maria studied Fine Art at the Hartford Art School,Connecticut. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in 2007, majoring in Printmaking with a minor in Art History, and having completed a semester as an exchange student in Cortona, Italy. In 2010 she completed an MFA in Studio Arts, focused again on Printmaking, from Concordia University in Montréal. Maria has been teaching various printmaking media at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design since 2012.

Her works have been exhibited across Canada and the United States, including shows in Calgary, Regina, Montréal, Halifax, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, Hartford and Buffalo, as well as internationally in the UK, Denmark, Germany and Italy.
