Barbara Dorey

 

Barbara Dorey is an artist working in pastel, watercolour and oil. She is renowned for the brilliant, life-like quality of her landscapes, still lifes, and particularly for her portraits. Selected commissions include Prime Minister Jean Chretien, Acadia University President Dr. James Perkin, Royal Canadian Navy Rear-Admiral Wright, Honorable Victor DeB. Oland, Chief Justice Lorne Clarke, Senator Joseph P. Landry and Boston Marathon winner Johnny Miles.

Barbara’s artistic studies included learning under Mischa German Van Ech in 1973, being a private student of well-known artist Charles A. Couper in the early 1980s, and later with Heather Spears at Mount Saint Vincent University in 1987.

Barbara has been painting Saint Mary’s University Sport Hall of Fame and the Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame inductees for over 15 years. She has been the subject of media coverage by television, radio, magazines & newspapers. She has taught throughout the Atlantic Provinces, and her works are displayed in private homes and non-private offices on more than 3 continents.
